The world's most fashionable four-eyes

by

Dorothy Parker's old adage 'Men seldom make passes / At girls who wear glasses' has long been blown out of the water and if she were around today she'd probably be quite shocked to see that glasses have become a desirable fashion accessory. So desirable that people get frames with non-prescription lenses. So desirable that the world's most well-known street-style blogger Scott Schuman AKA The Sartorialist is launching a site wholly dedicated to glasses and glasses-wearers.

Faces by The Sartorialist will be a site (and obviously there's an Instagram too: @facesbythesartorialist) comprising images shot by Schuman, in cities and fashionable destinations all over the world, of people wearing glasses. Really beautiful people wearing really beautiful glasses.

It's a partnership with Luxottica – the company behind some of fashion's most high-end eyewear brands: Prada, Ray-Ban, Stella McCartney, etc – and where possible, Faces by The Sartorialist will link to an E-commerce site. Schuman's and, of course, Luxottica's aim is that people will begin to see glasses as an accessory, much like shoes and bags, and will buy several pairs – after all, as glasses have become more and more fashionable, both at the higher and more affordable ends of the spectrum, glasses-wearers have been treated to ever-expanding options.

'Eyeglasses are a fascinating accessory. They can both reveal and transform a person,' says Schuman himself. 'I’ve noticed people have become much bolder in their choice of eyewear as a fashion accessory.'
