Forget about Twerking, it’s all about Tweakin’ now. Rick Owens has decreed it and so it must be.

The shadow-lurking designer has shot his first fashion editorial, coerced into it by none other than Carine Roitfeld. The legendary editor had this to say of her decision: ‘Rick is a great artist and I was as excited to see his photos as I am when I go to see one of his shows. I think the result is amazing and totally fits the issue.’

The issue, which is themed around all things dance, was an ideal platform for Owens to focus his distinctive creative direction using a new outlet. The editorial – called ‘Tweakin’ – is a splicing, stark, kinetic amalgamation of images of model Awa Ceesay twisting herself into sculptural shapes whilst decked out in heavy metal jewellery. It’s typical of Owens’ distinctive aesthetic but totally fresh at the same time.
