Carey emerges as front runner to play Hillary?
Carey Mulligan has emerged as the front runner to play Hillary Clinton in an upcoming biopic that focuses on the American former First Lady’s years as a Washington lawyer in the 1970s.
US stars like Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain and our personal favourite Amanda Seyfried (the girl can work a pantsuit) had been touted as possible Hillarys but the British star is the producers’ top choice according to the reliable Hollywood Reporter.
The drama, which has been written by Young Il Kim, will examine the young Hillary’s burgeoning relationship with her future husband, Bill Clinton, and her involvement in the events leading to the impeachment of Richard Nixon.
Although British, Carey Mulligan has become an actor Americans trust can play an American, having progressed from roles in British movies like Pride and Prejudice and An Education to Drive, Shame and the blockbuster remake of The Great Gatsby.
