Winona Forever wows us once again

Our panelists on the latest and greatest celebrity looks

Winona Ryder wearing Cushnie et Ochs at the Homefront premiere in Las Vegas last night

There is something slightly awkward about Winona Ryder and that is why I love her. She’s a Hollywood star who makes huge public mistakes; she’s an incredibly pretty person who still looks a little uncomfortable on the red carpet, even after 25 years. With Winona, you are never going to get a flash of veneers and a hand on the hip; you’ll get a little startled deer in the headlights instead. This outfit is a perfect backdrop to those big doe eyes – discreet, quietly stylish – and it’s sleek enough not to swamp her petite frame. I love the shoes, I might have preferred a different bag and earrings but hey, that’s quibbling. As Johnny once said, ‘Winona forever’.

If Winona turns up on the red carpet in anything, I'm as happy as a clam. It's merely a bonus that she always looks incredible too. This is classic Winona. Chic, simple lines that fit her perfectly without cling or fanfare. Few accessories, perfectly chosen. I love her hair and make up here too. Soft, beautiful, sophisticated. Winona Forever.

Joanna McGarry, beauty director at Never Underdressed
Winona Ryder is the woman at a posh dinner party who scurries in late, picks up someone else’s champagne and keenly sips it while delivering a polemic on how Chinese art has revolutionised her  Soho gallery. You think ‘she’s probably unhinged’, but then wonder how she could have dressed herself so well. You want to dislike her, but she’s too beautiful, so instead, you stare at her. A lot. The cut of her dress, the point of her courts: she is perfect. And she’s done it all with a shaggy high ponytail at the top. Magnificence.
