Is Ashley's jumper more chippy queue than couture?

I'm feeling very Nikki from Big Brother 7 about how cold it's gone, so I can fully understand why Ashley Olsen eschewed anything off-shoulder or arm exposing and instead stuck on a cosy cashmere sweater with her couture-like skirt (and is that a thermal she's layered underneath?). Plus, I like how wearing a slouchy jumper on the red carpet at a pretty major fashion event, all the while maintaining her commitment to gothy colours and hemlines says 'I'm a mother-effing Olsen and I'll wear what I damn well please'. Nice one, Ashley.

A slouchy sweater worn over a dressed-up skirt can look so sexy – but I'm not mad about this attempt. With the T-shirt underneath and the daytime bag, it feels like Ashley's head and legs are going to the opera while her torso and arms meet a friend at Pret for a tuna sandwich and a catch-up. Swapping the skirt for sharp trousers might have improved it, or losing the T-shirt, or carrying a statement clutch, or... well, anything really.

Ashley's hair and makeup look absolutely gorgeous here. Her full brows, smokey brown eyes, full nude pout and chic, middle-parted up-do all work together to look immaculate without seeming too polished. However, the rest of this look says "four am at a black-tie do and now I'm queuing up for some cheesy chips". The black v neck jumper looks like she's borrowed it off a bloke who was sat next to her on her table who she had a bit of a flirt with and if her heels weren't kicked off into the corner of the marquee when Sweet Child O' Mine came on, they're certainly in that rather large bag she's carrying. The long black skirt and simple white top look like an elegant pairing, I'd just put on some heels, lose the jumper and replace that bag with a simple clutch.
