Every woman has those prized beauty products, the ones she puts on a pedestal and would have happily bought over a textbook or two in those cash-strapped student days. The shiny, all-singing, all-dancing luxury items with their heady scents and luxurious packaging that have pride of place on the dressing table and regularly grace the pages of glossy magazines. 

But what about those beauty products that quietly wait in the wings, the drugstore saviours we use every day without any thought?
