Lipstick parts women like the seas. There are those of us that'd need to be dragged kicking and screaming from our arsenal of red lipsticks and then there are those women who'd rather endure an eight-hour bikini wax than walk around with a smear of bright waxy colour on their mouth. 

And yet, the pro-lipstickers are a fast-growing group, well far bigger than they were a decade ago when you couldn't move for sparkly, gloopy lip glosses. Because, lipstick - like nothing else - has the power to add an exclamation mark to your face like nothing else. It's fast, effective and (almost) universally flattering. That's right, let's end this ongoing need to categorise lipstick shades by their suitability towards a specific skin tone. It's akin to proclaiming that some of us should avoid wearing aubergine or sky blue because they're not in the right place next to our skin tone on the colour wheel. Peculiar and ridiculous. Each lipstick must be judged on its invidividual merits.
