Independence Day. No, not the 1996 blockbuster with Will Smith (though it’s got to be one of his best), but today, as in 4 July. American Indepedance. It’s not so big for us but our American friends across the pond are celebrating in a big, big way. With a day off work and doughy pretzels washed down with sugary soda pops. And zillions of silver foil wrapped Hershey’s Kisses, naturally. 

As the federal holiday kicks off across the whole of the USA, it seems only considerate to our Yankie pals to remember their all-time icons. Like, the greatest ever ones that were born into one of thoe 52 states; the ones who totally embody the American spirit. 

There are gazillions of them – of course – but when it comes down to the perfect few who get it just right with their innocent puppy dog eyes, commerical-worthy white smiles and radiant complexions, they are only a select few. Like Lauren Bacall and Christy Turlington, to be specific (cue major swoon).
