Woah. Crystal Renn, you dark horse. We turn away for two minutes and you pop up looking like all of our goth-tinged, 90s grunge dreams come true. Renowned for her killer big brows, Renn rocked up to last night's Gucci Beauty Launch event in New York and flipped the switch with some blotted out bleached brows and gasp, a (possibly faux) septum ring. She looks a little more like Abbey Lee Kershaw, with a generous dollop of MariaCarla Boscono, if she'd just gone out raving in Brooklyn with Alexander Wang. 

And yet, it's not wildly edgy to the point of losing all sense of beauty - that sheeny skin and those genetically gifted cheekbones 

Now, it's likely that will have been the over-hang from a shoot that she'd done that day, but either way, it's proof of Renn's incomparable transformational magic. Like the models of the 70s and 80s, Renn relishes the challenge of morphing into disparate characters for her work behind the lens and on the catwalk, in fact, it's difficult to find two shoots of her that are totally alike. And that's a pretty sterling way of deciphering the gumption of any model talent working today.
