How I styled First Aid Kit's latest video

by

You couldn't get better summer style inspiration than the outfits worn by First Aid Kit, such is their penchant for dreamy, floaty, 60s inspired looks. Their latest video, My Silver Lining, taken from forthcoming album, Stay Gold, released on 9th June, is a perfect example and a watch is bound to have you hankering for the chance to waft around Laurel Canyon.

We chatted to the video's stylist, Miss KK, to find out what inspired the looks on screen...

'The brief for the video was 1960s California and also lots of gold, as the album the single is taken from is Stay Gold. And cute dresses, of course'.

'I always think of Emmylou Harris when I think of First Aid Kit's style, mostly because of their song, EmmyLou. They have influences from the 60s, also mixed in with the California style of today. But they really have their own thing going on - they always know what they are looking for in their style'.

'The biggest influence for the looks in the video was gold. We wanted as much as possible to be to be gold, or at least shimmery like gold'.

'This shot looks a lot like the back cover of Emmylou Harris' Pieces of the Sky, but the look was a fluke'

'We'd intended all gold looks, but I found these dresses and just knew the girls would love them. This scene in the video wasn't even planned, because they loved the dressed so much the director made a special scene for them just to run around in them'.

'These dresses are both from the 1960s, and the gold is just perfect'.

'The hat is the girls' own and their sunglasses are from Urban Outfitters. They wanted black with the hat as it's kinda their signature look at the moment. Perfect for the car driving scene in LA'.
