Set your clocks: Alexander Wang x H&M announced

by

Alexander Wang is the latest designer to partner with H&M, it was announced this morning.

The designer, who is creative director of Balenciaga as well as heading up his own label, and H&M announced the collaboration just before they hosted an event at Coachella, where, it seems, all the most glamorous people – fashion types, music people, all the celebrities – are currently based.

Wang broke the news via his Instagram – his first-ever post on his official account – with a 15-second video depicting track lights and the type of countdown clock used in American sports.

The clip ends with the clock reading 11.06. So what can we deduce? That the collection will offer Wang’s modern take on streetwear and sportswear – we’re expecting mesh, zips, hoods – and that it might possibly launch on November 6, or as Americans would have it 11.06.

One certainty is that, like all H&M designer collaborations, it will be feverishly anticipated  – just look what happened (i.e. unmitigated chaos) when Wang gave items from his T by Alexander Wang autumn 2013 collection away for free.

H&M had better start planning their wristband system now...

Update: H&M has confirmed that the Alexander Wang collection will be available in 250 H&M stores worldwide and on online from November 6, 2014.

Alexander Wang says, 'I am honoured to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations. The work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to pushing boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.'
