We were beginning to get a little confused that Cara Delevingne might actually be a professional clown, rather than a denizen of the world’s most exclusive catwalks. She was becoming the face that launched a thousand onesies - the big kid who tweets about her love for Mario Kart, Instagrams herself hanging out with Sesame Street’s Elmo and cracks jokes such as ‘What did the policeman say to his stomach? You’re under a vest!’ 

In flagrant denial of her day job, when papped, Delevingne never fails to bob her tongue out, feign rabbit ears or cross her eyes.

We have a theory. She’s been trying to make us forget that she’s heart-stoppingly beautiful. It must be hard looking like that (*pauses for reaction, ducks rotten tomatoes*). But, all her efforts to fool us have been in vain: hauntingly exquisite images of the 20-year-old and Avengers Assemble actor Tom Hiddleston have been released from the new issue of US Vogue.

In them, the pair enact an elegant, Fitzgeraldian romance - replete with an unexpected swooping hawk, electric touches, gorgeous scowling and ‘aflame’ eyes. Heavens! We need a little lie down. Almost forgot to look at the clothes.
