Galliano's back in Vogue with Kate Moss
Kate Moss was one of the first fashion figures to offer a recently disgraced John Galliano an olive branch when she invited him to design her wedding dress in 2011, so it's little surprise that for her first issue as contributing fashion editor of British Vogue, she's brought the designer on board as a guest fashion editor in an issue that showcases 'fashion's crazy hall of fame', as Alexandra Shulman describes it in her editor's letter.
In a fantastical shoot by photographer Tim Walker, and of course, starring Moss, Galliano visually visits the Ballet Russe via punk icon Malcolm McLaren, using pieces by British designers including Christopher Kane, Meadham Kirchhoff, Simone Rocha and Gareth Pugh in a move that seems to draw a line under his past as the one-time toast of Paris, and instead embrace 'the eccentricity and personality that is a trademark of London fashion'.
Shulman is keen to praise Galliano as having 'an erudite and passionate brain', reminding us why fashion fell in love with the designer in the first place, and perhaps marking the dawn of a fresh new era for him.
