When it comes to summer dressing, we northern Europeans lag a bit in the style stakes. We're great at winter and quite good at spring and autumn – but summer has us foxed, mainly because we're just not used to seeing that glowing yellow orb in the sky very often.

We panic. We grab a maxidress that looks a bit wafty and will cover us up, or we forget to get dressed at all, even though it's barely May yet. We truss ourselves up or we let it all hang out. And then we wonder why we feel that bit less cool than French girls, say, or Californian ones.

So here at Never Underdressed, we've tried to make summer dressing a little bit easier. We've chosen nine famous women who embody and inhabit a warm weather look like a glass of rosé does a balmy evening. What's more, we've also rummaged through the shops to offer you the pieces that will turn you into them*.

Hopefully it makes the process of shrugging off your spring jacket and slipping into something with a little more ventilation that bit easier. Remember, you're not copying, you're emulating.
