A new mood has swept over fashion this season and a new muse has emerged - a grown-up, elegant woman. 

She appeared on countless autumn winter catwalks (Prada, Jonathan Saunders, Burberry Prorsum, Gucci, Lanvin, Dior) and in all her incarnations the constant was her silhouette - nipped in waists and an hourglass figure.

A few key pieces are all you need to translate the trend to everyday wearing - a fitted pencil skirt, a pair of killer court shoes, and a fluffy knit (ideally worn off the shoulder a la Prada). The aim is to reference the traditional codes of grown-up dressing but to keep an element of fun - so mix unexpected textures like high-shine skirts with candy-coloured angora sweaters.
