Lupita Nyong’o has taken up residence on the homepages of fashion websites worldwide, and it’s easy to see why: the 30-year-old Kenyan actress is a megababe, with lustrous skin, a show-stopping smile, and a series of brilliant red carpet outfits to highlight all that God gave her.

So how do you nail a red carpet debut? Before the Toronto International Film Festival back in September, none of us had heard of Nyong’o, who was quite literally plucked from obscurity by Steve McQueen before she even finished drama school. 

But she played by the rules, following in the footsteps of previous 'Hot New Sensation' red carpet luminaries such as Jennifer Lawrence, Rooney Mara and Hailee Steinfeld. One by one she has ticked off all the requisite sartorial boxes, which is why she is now ruling the roost – and our pining fashion hearts.
