Got paper? Some women we'd like to see on banknotes
After the news last month that Winston Churchill will replace social reformer Elizabeth Fry on newly printed five pound notes, the brilliant Women's Room blog, with the support of Everyday Sexism, started its campaign for women on our banknotes. Seeing as the fashion industry is run in large part by impressive and inspirational women, and it employs and entertains so many of them too, we've been pondering who might be best placed from to appear on our stacks. Sorry, our dead prez. Our greenbacks. Yes, ok, our fivers.
Here at the Bank of Never Underdressed, we propose several strong female figures in the industry, each with a different reason for appearing because of services not just to fashion but to us, the wearers of clothes, and womankind more widely.
