Madonna's 1990 Blonde Ambition tour will always be remembered for the iconic conical bra designer-of-that-moment Jean Paul Gaultier fashioned for her, and if there's one word that could sum up Miley Cyrus' style statement on her Bangerz tour, which is currently banging, bumping and grinding its way around America (party in the USA indeed), it would be: crotch. 

Cleavage is way too old-school a sign of sexiness for Miley so instead of lowering her neckline to create erotically charged stage costumes, she's raised the leg-line right up to the waist. Hips are the new side-boob as far as Miley Cyrus is concerned. 

It's the kind of leg-line we've barely seen since Pamela Anderson, Donna D'Errico, Yasmine Bleeth and Gina Lee Nolin made the muscular pelvis seem like the thing you should be striving for down the gym. 

In the 80s and 90s you might have only seen such a knicker shape under David Hasselhoff's watchful guard or worn over leotards in Rosemary Conley exercise videos, but Miley's taking the look to its hip-baring peak on this tour. 

Was Miley's instruction to her costume designer 'leg-line must sit at least 3-inches higher than the frayed denim waistband of Britney's 90s jeans'?

She first showcased this signature during the festive season at the Jingle Bell Ball. All I want for Christmas is an epilator? 

Note the amount of red involved, suggesting that her outfit heroes here are almost definitely Pamela and Yasmine...

...as opposed to say, Cher, whose crotch, btw, looks downright demure compared to Miley's updated version. 

Maybe the sad cat emoji she got tattooed on the inside of her (face) lip at the weekend is her way of showing the world how she feels about all the waxing.
