Rachel Bilson epitomises the LA girl, usually her style is laid back, fashion forward and cool, but here her look is closer to Quality Street than street style – sweet and in a cutely wrapped package. My only quibble is that her petite frame is overwhelmed by the peplum and her delicate figure is looking a little lost. Loving the colour on her though, cobalt blue is the on-trend colour of the season.

What I love about Rachel Bilson is that although she always plays it safe, she never, ever changes her look. Ever. It’s clever; she knows what works and what flatters her and she doesn’t stray from that. This look is classic, pretty and the kind of thing that parents love. And identical to her style from The O.C. days – in fact, I’m sure she wore something very similar to that summer ball with Seth?

I like the dress but I think it would have looked better if she would have worn another pair of shoes and had a more Sunny von Bülow kind of hair style. I bet the dress is really well made and feels wonderful to wear but I hate the bag and the nail polish – it would have looked more cool if she had a tote bag made off rubber or something like that. Overall she looks sweet but something is missing, I think.
