Rila Fukushima premieres a jumpsuit

Rila Fukushima wears a Stella McCartney jumpsuit to the Wolverine premiere last night

I love a jumpsuit. It makes for the perfect over the top frou-frou frock antidote. The joy of Rila Fukushima’s Stella McCartney creation – aside from the divine colour - is the structured silhouette it allows her small frame . Oh and the pockets: nothing after all says, 'it takes no effort at all to make me look this fabulous' quite like a good pocket does. Full marks for the jumpsuit. Shame about the dodgy cuff.

I loved this jumpsuit from the Stella McCartney pre-fall collection and Rila Fukushima looked great in it. Her shoes are firmly in the safe zone (high-heel pointed courts - check), but she’s really gone for it with the jewellery - check out those ear cuffs and statement thumb ring (when was the last time that you saw a thumb ring?) It’s great to see an actress (or her stylist) putting their own stamp on a runway look. More of this please.

Some are born for the jumpsuit. Others have the jumpsuit thrust upon them. Riku Fukushima was made for this combinaison. And I feel we should call it a combinaison, as that is what the French call a jumpsuit. As well as “un jumpsuit”. Don’t be fooled by the broad tartan check and the Vivienne Westwood tribute bustier. The fabric and the cut make this a very classic Parisian take from Stella McCartney.  Felicitations, Rila Fukushima. No longer AMW (actress-model-whatever). But AMJW (actress-model-jumpsuit-wearer). If all jumpsuits looked like this, the world would be a better place. Although it might also help if we all also looked like Riku.
