The Dresses We'll Remember Forever

by

Jennifer Lopez is the August cover star of W magazine this month and in the accompanying interview she talks about her new happiness with her new boyfriend, her two kids, her work ethic, but as The Cut points out, the most interesting nuggets in the interview are about the Versace dress she wore to the 2000 Grammys. You certainly know the one she's talking about.  You know, the one with the tropical print that was slit to below the navel and exposed not so much cleavage as, like, well, almost everything.

Remembering the evening, Lopez says: 'We had looked at a few dresses, and nothing was right ... My stylist said, there’s this one dress, but other people have worn it. I tried on the Versace and decided to wear it anyway ... When I came onstage with David Duchovny, who was the biggest star in the world then, he said to the audience, ‘Nobody is looking at me.' ... This loud sound started from the back of the room — it was kind of like a roar, over me in the dress.'

It's a dress that caused a thousand camera bulbs to flash and one that anybody who has so much glanced at a magazine in the past 15 years will remember. So what are the other dresses that we'll remember forever, the gowns that continue to inspire? (Clue: Kate Moss features heavily.)
