Georgia Jagger proves orange is this summer’s surprise make-up hit
I love make-up, which might not come as much of a surprise considering my job, but I really do. I don’t actually wear much, but seeing new season palettes filled with yellows and azures and smoky shades as well as gorgeous berry bullets of lipstick makes me giddy. And for all the powders and shadows and liquid liners that come flooding in, there’s nothing I don’t like.
Except one thing – orange eye shadows. Any shade of apricot or coral or fleshy toned shadows makes me instantly scared. They remind me of my GCSE maths teacher who favoured a generously applied base of waxy, orange powder all over her lids. It’s a colour that immediately makes me think of an ill and sickly looking complexion. Though having seen how cool it looked on our shoot with new face model Amber last month, I think I might be coming round to it. Slowly but surely, it’s really growing on me.
"No shadings of this or feeble smudgings of that – a punchy shade is 100% where it’s at." - Angelica Hermon
So a glimpse of Georgia Jagger on the cover of this month’s fifth anniversary issue of Love magazine was fuel to the fire. I was blown away. Yes, rock star royalty with a face as blessed as this and cheekbones sharper than a Laguiole knife can get away with just about anything, but it looks really, really good. The key seems to be, as with Amber, to choose a bright, papaya shade and go heavy on the application. No shadings of this or feeble smudgings of that – a punchy shade is 100% where it’s at. Like this. Suck in cheeks to give a hint of Georgia-esque cheekbone action too.
The new 5th anniversary issue of Love magazine is out now.
