The lure of gourmand fragrances
Fragrance houses have long been incorporating food notes into some of their most iconic scents. No, we’re not talking about the horrifically thought-out Pizza Hut perfume (yes, it does exist) but the fabulous foodie notes that the likes of Jo Malone and Serge Lutens employ so well. So well in fact, that they’re almost edible.
Cucumber, plum and ginger to name but a few can now be found in fragrances – one scent even features panna cotta for the more sweet-toothed. You could, in principle, dine your way through a ten course meal of different olfactory delights, from appetizer to an after-dinner coffee consisting of Tom Ford's Café Rose. It all depends on how you smell it.
Spritzing the scent of a freshly baked loaf on your décolletage may not sound appealing at first, but when the flavour is expertly adapted by a perfumery it becomes the best thing since sliced bread (sorry, couldn’t resist).
