Thigh high boots will be A Thing
Early adopters don’t have it easy, you know. They’re the ones, according to Malcolm Gladwell, who get in there way before the rest of us and kick off a trend before it’s even a twinkle in our eye.
Sounds alright until you realise that they have to suffer for their trailblazing ways. Take Lily Collins, who is sacrificing comfort in the Pennsylvania summer heat, in order to wear over-the-knee boots before they officially become ‘A Thing’ this autumn. Her Christian Louboutin ‘Big Lips’ boots look fabulous paired with a Resort look by new LVMH designer Maxime Simoens, but we’re slightly concerned about how sweaty she must be.
Rita Ora has also been spotted leapfrogging the last month of summer in order to get straight into AW13. Her white Altuzarra thigh highs left us confused, as did Rihanna’s silken Manolo Blahniks which she wore to perform in heat-wave-stricken Monte Carlo last month.
But who are we to argue with the forces of fashion? Pucci has done it, Chanel has decreed it, therefore it must be so. Better start stretching out those hamstrings.
