The 19 times All Saints made us rethink our beauty style
'A few questions that I need to know. How you could ever hurt me so. I need to know what I've done wrong. And how long it's been going on.' Takes you right back, doesn't it. Right back to 1998, specifically, when All Saints swerved right into the number 1 spot in the UK singles charts with Never Ever.
If you were anything like me and my friends - All Saints were the girl band it was OK to like openly. Thrillingly, they're about to reform for a 5 date tour of the UK with Backstreet Boys so let's just say that fire is about to be rekindled. They were strong (I think they called it 'ladette' back then, drearily), they had a laugh and they were cool. It wasn't all about the combats and dragon-embellished sleeveless t-shirts though - the All Saints did a strong line in beautifying too.
The messy french twists, the stripey highlights (All Saints practically invented highlights), the darker lip liner, the elongated side-fringe; it was all there. And with it, they nailed just about every trend of the late 90s/early 00s. It doesn't matter that most of them haven't yet come back around - we know they will. Just give it time.
