Last Night's Looks: Bright Young Things at Fortnum
The London social scene came over all Evelyn Waugh last night, what with the creme de la creme of toff totty celebrating the launch of Alice Naylor-Leyland's lifestyle website, Mrs Alice in Her Palace, at Fortnum & Mason – everyone from Poppy Delevingne to Princess Beatrice turned out to celebrate. Well, they do love to fete one of their own, don't they, the bright young things?
Elsewhere, pretend toffs Michelle Dockery and Lily James were at the Changing Faces charity gala, while Drew Barrymore displayed a very perky baby bump in a sunshine yellow T-shirt dress.
But it was really Emma Watson's week as Noah begins its run of premieres, the latest of which saw her in a stunning lack Oscar de la Renta gown in New York. Across town Jenna Lyons and Karlie Kloss took to the red carpet as J Crew threw a party.
On Tuesday Emma Watson made her appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman looking sharp in a Saint Laurent suit. Over in London fashionable art fans including Grayson Perry, Roksanda Ilincic and Elisa Sednaoui gathered at The Royal Academy for its annual auction dinner.
Lady Gaga was as outrageous as ever in New York donning a pink sparkling suit complete with hat, all atop a pair of heels so high they barely qualify as 'shoes' anymore. Meanwhile, the women of smart television – Lizzy Caplan and Caitlin Fitzgerald from Masters of Sex; Anna Chlumsky and Julia Louis-Dreyfus from Veep – were dressed in altogether more pedestrian garb at screening events.
