Katie Grand's difficult third album

by

'This one's more mature,' Grand explained of her latest batch of products. Where previously she has focussed on pop-culture patent leather, heart prints and animal skin, for spring 2014 she went with sexy rather than sporty. 'It needed to be a luxury product rather than something quirky. It's not as immediately playful but it looks the most resolved of the three. My third album!'

As well as a 10cm heeled stiletto (a first for the brand) there's also an overnight bag, a satchel and a supple leather jacket, engineering especially by Grand and her team to have a lived-in feel that doesn't border on the contrived or distressed.

'My husband [Steve Mackey of Pulp] arrived tonight and said 'Oh have you become a designer then?' she joked.

It's only just a joke: as well as being editor in chief of LOVE magazine, Grand also consults for Marc Jacobs, both at his own label and at Louis Vuitton. She has also styled Prada shows, and works with Giles Deacon every season too.

In fact, we noticed something of a resemblance between the rich and chintzy, faded grandeur carpets of the Societa del Giardino and the musty Persian rugs that were strewn around the set of Jacobs's eery apocalyptic show in New York last week. But perhaps that's just us.
