Wear Marni day and night as the brand launches new evening collection
Marni released images of its very first evening line today, showing looks that are geared towards formal occasions but retain a sense of the off-beat, quirky style that the label is well known for.
Marni’s creative director, Consuelo Castiglioni, avoided traditional gowns and included plenty of trousers and mid-calf and to-the-knee skirts in her inaugural Evening Collection instead. The evening accents can, however, be seen in the palette and in the embellishment, with a statement released by Marni explaining, ‘The color palette is nocturnal, with precious accents: black, deep red, green, touches of white. Floral and geometric prints enrich and interrupt the visual texture. Fabrics are tactile and sophisticated: double duchesse, crepe envers.’
Hairbands add a girlish but dressed-up touch and as you would expect of Marni, accessories feature heavily. Women’s Wear Daily reports that prices will range from $600 (£395) for a top to $5,530 (£3,630) for an embellished coat, and that the evening ready-to-wear and accessories lines will hit shops worldwide in November, around the same time as the resort collections.
Of course, evening wear is often seen on the red carpet and it will be interesting to see which celebrities turn to the Marni for events and occasion dressing.
