Chanel's burnt out vision of the future
When guests arrived at the Grand Palais this morning, they were greeted with the charred shell of a classical theatre. Taking their seats in fold-down wooden chairs, they were treated to Lagerfeld's vision of a retro-futurist, post-apocalyptic era of the most haute clothing in the world.
To clarify: that's one full of tweed, bouclé, tulle and reconfigured cowboy hats.
As part of the finale, Lagerfeld took his bow on the mocked-up stage with model Erin Wasson, who wore a bridal suit of white bouclé, with a train, and some defiantly 80s-looking white ankle boots (mark my words - you'll want a pair). And from the front row, Rihanna looked on.
