The Angels on what to expect from the Victoria's Secret London show
London is getting the biggest dose of glitz and glamour for Christmas this year when the notoriously sparkly Victoria's Secret fashion show hits town for the first time ever in December. During this morning's announcement at the brand's Bond Street flagship store, top Angels Adriana Lima and Candice Swanpoel revealed that the show, to be held on 2nd December at Earls Court, is going to be bigger and more extravagant than ever, with a massive 2500 guests, rather than the usual 1000 that have attended previous shows in New York, being invited to the newly anointed black tie event.
'Each year Victoria’s secret tries to make it bigger and better than the year before, and I don’t know how they come up with it!' Candice laughed, wearing a super-slinky white Roland Mouret dress, and if anything will top last year's extravaganza, which featured a Union Jack clad Taylor Swift (was that a clue?), then this is it. 'London is the centre of fashion in the world and I can’t think of a better place for it than here', Adriana, wearing bejewelled Matthew Williamson, added.
What else can we expect when the All-American lingerie circus gets a Brit makeover? We chatted to Adriana and Candice to find out...
Top British music acts
Adriana Lima: 'I’d love to see Elton John play because I’m a big fan, and I'd love to see The Rolling Stones perform'.
Candice Swanepoel: 'I would really like to see a DJ play. It’s really good to have strong music to walk to'.
Loads of British models
Adriana Lima: 'I would love for Cara Delevingne to do it again. She's so much fun'.
Candice Swanepoel: 'And Jourdan Dunn is also gorgeous. There’s always some British girls in the show. They bring a different kind of energy and a naughty sexiness'.
A super-starry (and maybe even royal) British guest list
Adriana Lima: 'Hopefully Prince Harry will come! We would love to have him'.
COULD THIS MEAN??? The queen may not like her showing her knees, but she does have previous experience as a lingerie model.
Plenty of devil-may-care Brit-girl attitude
Candice Swanepoel: 'I think each British women embraces her own unique style. Kind of not afraid to wear something different – there’s so much to choose from in London, punk and things. I think Victoria’s Secret will mix it up a lot'.
Adriana Lima: 'Victoria Beckham is so elegant and ladylike but still sexy. I really love that style'.
Candice Swanepoel: 'I like Alexa Chung and how she’s kind of laid back, and Sienna Miller’s boho style'.
An even wilder party of a show than we've ever seen from Victoria's Secret before
Candice Swanepoel: 'Last year opening the British Invasion wearing the fantasy bra, was a real special moment for me and I love the fact that we get to do whatever we want on the runway and show our personalities is great. It’s just a big event for people to go wild and enjoy it'.
Adriana Lima: 'When I did my first show, I was 18, and I was fresh from Brazil and I remember seeing Tyra Banks, Laetitia Casta, Stephanie Seymour, and I was like, I can’t believe I’m part of this!'.
Candice Swanepoel: 'That was like me for you!'.
Adriana Lima: 'As a model, to be in the Victoria's Secret show is a huge achievement in our careers. It opens so many doors professionally to be part of this'.
Sounds like it's going to be a hoot. Until December, Angels!
