Kim Kardashian has never been a shrinking violet. Since she arrived in the public consciousness as part of the Paris Hilton crowd in 2006, she's built her profile month by month with the flare of a natural born showman (totally outstripping the Hiltons, by the way). Yes, the Ray J sextape, the brief and dramatic marriage to Kris Humphries and the high-profile relationship with Kanye West have all helped to keep our attention, but without a doubt her trademark look has played a major part.

With her love of skintight dresses, long Princess-Jasmine hair and any shoe that can reasonably be described as a 'bootie', Kim is a fan of a certain kind of va-va-voom LA glamour. For years her wardrobe consisted of an ever-revolving selection of red carpet dresses, each showing off that extravagant hourglass figure to its best advantage.

But around the time that she cast off Kris, got together with her old friend Kanye and became pregnant, there was a subtle shift in Kim's style. Her clothes have become a little more experimental, a little more 'fashion' – she mixes with Carine Roitfeld and Anna Wintour these days, and has a longtime allegiance with Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci (who dressed her in that floral dress for the 2013 Met Gala). She's still the cleavage-loving Kim we always knew, but as time goes by she's building up more and more front-row credibility.
