Style set celebrated in the Queen's birthday honours list

by

The annual list of honourees by the Queen has been announced and favourites from the worlds of fashion and culture got a look in. For services to fashion journalism, London Fashion Week institution and ex-fashion editor of The Telegraph, Hilary alexander will receive an OBE, while GQ editor Dylan Jones will be honoured with the same accolade for his services to publishing and the British fashion industry. The nomination comes on the eve of London Collections: Men, of which Jones is Chair.

From the music world, Adele and PJ Harvey are set to receive MBEs. Adele, whose 60s soul-singer style has won her the approval of fashion's own queen, Anna Wintour, has had the biggest selling album in America, with 21, for two consecutive years beating only Michael Jackson's Thriller in terms of popularity. PJ Harvey has been an icon in both fashion and music since the early 90s thanks to era-defining albums including To Bring You My Love and Stores from the City, Stories from the Sea, as well as some pretty daring style. The anti-establishment themes on her latest album, 2011's critically acclaimed, Let England Shake, have left commentators wondering if she will in fact accept, or whether she'll do a John Lennon and send the award back.

The art world's favourite cross-dresser Grayson Perry is up for a CBE for services to contemporary art. Considering the Queen's penchant for pearls, will he recycle that dress for the ceremony?
