What the Frock: Sharon Stone

Our panelists on the latest and greatest celebrity looks

Very 'got caught in a flash storm and had to borrow from the cupboard under my in-law's stairs'. I do worry about those new shoes chafing.

Sharon Stone, unlikely muse of the season, shows exactly why we keep coming back to her for inspiration with this 'garden party deluxe' look. For a start, she's picked the pieces you'd normally expect to see on a cricket umpire and made them womanly, something only a sexpot of Stone's calibre is capable of. And secondly, she's immaculately chic for striking the balance between sophisticated and cool, neither trying too hard nor slobbing about. But she still looks comfy. I like it when a woman looks comfy.

Sali Hughes, beauty editor at The Guardian
Sharon Stone in a panama is just perfect. But I'm not sure that a high necked golfing sweater is a natural bedmate for either. The colour scheme feels heavy and wintery against summery straw. The mannish white shoes are more season-appropriate and look great on Stone's elegant frame but I'd prefer to see them with loose, Katharine Hepburn style pants than worn incongruously below a nanna petticoat.
