Jennifer Aniston changes tack in a floral mini

I want to like this. Really, I do. Not least because it has lured Jennifer out of her early 00’s comfort zone of simple black dress, strappy heels and pristinely ironed hair. But it just reeks of awkwardness; from the music box figurine pose (we know you can do better than that, Jen), to the over-preened, bendy hair (it’s simply a case of wash and go for natural movement), to the weird under-skirty apron-y thing which looks like her Mum sewed it on after decreeing that her hemline was too short. If this is ‘playful Jennifer’, give me minimal Jennifer any day.

All the individual bits of this look great but there’s a bit of an exquisite corpse feeling going on overall. Jennifer’s hair is, of course, her trademark, and it’s certainly amazing, awesome and very, very big here. But it belongs on a beach, not atop a quirky floral Dior mini-dress, especially given that tight crew neckline. The shoes also seem a little out of place – with something beige or white they’d have a bit of sun-kissed LA glamour but next to this feminine print they’re slightly frowsy. On the plus side, none of this can really detract from the fact that she’s made a fairly unusual dress work for her and she has a lovely tan and nice legs. Which is why, I’m sure, Jennifer Aniston does not care what you or I think of her shoes or haircut.

I've never seen her look better. Let's face it, when you truly look good, it's the person you should see first not the outfit, and you don't look that good if you don't feel great. Tousled hair and fresh cool make up – startling when you consider she just arrived long haul. A modernist twist on trad-floral, she's gone for Dior, hyper-cool now Raf's at the helm. And resort to boot. Go girrrrrllllll.
