After weeks of water-breaking speculation and the world's press and royal weirdos camping outside St Mary's hospital in Paddington, Kate Middleton has officially gone into labour, Kensington Palace has confirmed. 

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are waiting like the rest of us to find out the sex of the child, but either way they're likely to choose a name from William's royal lineage, and a razzy selection of King and queen folk they have to choose from too. 

As we speak, Pippa's probably cooking up some sage advice on caring for the child ('when the baby cries, it could be hungry, or need changing'), Harry's likely to be chilling the Mahiki coconut rum ready for a birth celebration, and birthing partner and about-to-be-Grandma Carole Middleton's no doubt coming over all stern soccer-mum and making eyes at Philip et al that say 'back off Windsors, this is my gig'.
