Poppy Delevingne hails the return of the ghost brow
I wasn’t going to mention the ghostly brow thing just yet, didn’t want to scare you all away. It was something of an iconic trend a few years back now, and I thought it was dead and buried and gone forever, but apparently not. As Poppy Delevingne went and did it today (and Instagrammed the evidence), perhaps this marks the return of the ghost brow?
Here Poppy is all deathly and ghost-looking on the set of a shoot for Love Magazine. She’s tagged make-up artist Lisa Eldridge alongside, who is obviously to credit for the ice cool look. The first thing one notices is: where have her lovely brown brows gone? Well they’ve been bleached to hell and back, haven’t they? It is fashion after all. And like it or not, it’s a big trend on the brow front for spring/summer 2013. A trend nearly as big as Poppy’s younger sister’s infamous own set.
To add insult to injury, the spring/summer 2013 shows was full of nude brows. It was the focal point at Donna Karan where brows were bleached out completely in favour of hot pink eye sockets and lashes. The Alexander Wang models also debuted this balding look, in a ghostly but chic way that was slightly Scandinavian, slightly Natalia Vodianova.
It’s not for everyone, and to be frank it’s probably more suited to make-up themes circulating around Halloween, but I kind of love it. On Poppy and the catwalk models, that is. As the life-long owner of a very dark pair of brows, it’s not something I’ll be doing on a whim.
