Forget the Oscars, it's the Met Ball that is the fashion and beauty wonderland in which A-listers can really flex their style muscle. It's the event in which celebrities dare to reach a little higher, push a little bit further with their usual red-carpet style. And it all makes for quite jolly entertainment for the rest of us. Let's face it, it's not so much a case of she who dares wins, but she who dares runs the gauntlet of worst dressed lists. 

The trick is selecting a hairstyle and make-up look that complements rather than fights against the gown you are wearing. Sounds simple, right? And yet, so many fail to connect the dots. But still, we applaud them for trying.
