New Face: Rio goes super sleek

by

The model faces of tomorrow meet the beauty trends of today, here, every week.

I bring good news: the sleek ponytail, as in that thing of hair wizardry that you want to stroke time and time again, is having a moment. It took centre stage at the spring/summer 2013 catwalks to rapturous applause. Because whether or not you’ve got hair that’s long enough to be swept back into one, it’s still a thing of sheer aesthetic beauty.

The tail of all tails was at Alexander Wang (where else?) where hair master Guido Palau practically shellac-ed the hair into a deep centre parting, making it so shiny and smooth it was almost helmet-like in appearance. And there was Versus too, where not a single strand of hair was out of place on the perfected ponies of the model army.

With this in mind, two great things have happened since: firstly, the discovery of the genius new hair tool from John Frieda. And it really is pure genius, people. It’s exactly what has been missing from our hair lives all these years and it’s goes under the name of Full Repair Touch Up Flyaway Tamer, £10.99.

See it as a mascara for your hair. It tames and smoothes unsightly static strands in seconds, like those annoying ones you get after blow-drying. And being smarty pants for a second, this is down to the inca oil within it that weighs strands down with its weightless, non-greasy formula.

The other great thing that happened was finding Rio, a new face on the books at Models 1. Rio had the most to die for hair we’ve ever seen, a really unusual amber colour that was lustrous and silky and screaming out to try the Tamer. And Rio totally owned the sleek pony.  With a little help from our NBF the Flyaway Tamer, of course.

Hair stylist Nadja brushed over the pesky strands that weren’t behaving properly. Like a magic wand, it puts them right in their place in an instant. It’s not often that a new product – particularly a hair tool - really blows your mind, but this one really did. It’s a game-changer.
