I feel like I should hedge absolutely everything in this article, but it looks like s****r might be here – not wanting to jinx things and bring back the clouds, green skies and, oh, that hailstorm we had in late May.

Seeing as the summer season requires long and refreshing, slaking flavours, we spoke to Myles Davies, barman at Beagle in Hoxton, for his recommendations and picks from their menu of heady aromatic cocktails.

'Summer's really about lovely, complex long drinks,' he explains. 'Like coolers. We play with seasons and try to use what's available. Look out for lemon verbena in the comng months. And I'm looking forward to picking from my favourite cherry trees around East London, too.'
