Contemporary art, Louis Vuitton and you

by

Collaborations between fashion houses and contemporary artists aren’t uncommon but the news that you can get involved is a little more out of the ordinary.

Louis Vuitton are helping out Tania Kovats, who is creating an exhibition called Oceans, flying the British artist all over the world to collect water from the places where seas meet, like at Skagen in Denmark and Cape Agulhas in South Africa.

Meanwhile, everybody – well, everybody with access to the sea – can contribute to a piece called All the Seas, which collates water from seas worldwide. All you have to do is bottle up some seawater and sent it to the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh, where the exhibition will be held in March 2014.

Kovats, who in the 1990s attracted attention for her controversial Virgin in a Condom sculpture, will also be creating a new exhibition for the Louis Vuitton store on Bond Street early next year.

For more information on how you can get involved, visit the Oceans website.
