The man who photographed Hollywood's greatest

It's no surprise that photographer Cornel Lucas became the only person to win a BAFTA for stills when you consider the faces he photographed.

A new exhibition, Photo Noir: The Art of Cornel Lucas, on display at the National Theatre from 17th February - 29th March shows the cream of the Hollywood crop, including Joan Collins, Lauren Bacall and Marlene Dietrich, captured by Lucas' lens during his time on set at the British Film Studios during the 40s and 50s.

The series of black and white images on show at the exhibition exude the glamour of early Hollywood and are testament to why he was considered the top film star photographer of his time - the original Annie Leibovitz, if you will.

If you can't wait until February to see the stills, have a look through our favourite of the photographs that will be on show.
