New 'affordable' label alert, just in time for Christmas
A new label, Self-Portrait, has arrived just in time for the Christmas party season, offering original design at prices that it calls 'affordable', i.e. at prices that sit somewhere around the top end of the high street.
The label comes from Central Saint Martins-trained designer Han Chong, who was formerly creative director of Three Floor, and prices are in line with Whistles, & Other Stories and Reiss. A faux-leather T-shirt will set you back around £60, a dress £200. For that you’re getting luxury fabrics like lace, and lots of it – dresses have a pleasing weightiness and feel high-end. The aesthetic is according to the label itself ‘minimalist sporty’ but that look is interpreted in an altogether glamorous way.
Just launched this month and currently only available online from Self-Portrait’s website (wholesaling will start in the New Year), this is your chance to get in on the ground floor. This time next year, you might just find that everybody at your Christmas party is wearing the label.
