Top Gun: what a film. It made us laugh. It made us cry. It inspired the brilliant running ‘Danger zone’ joke on Archer! But more significantly, it also educated and influenced our younger selves in the ways of fashion, because weirdly for a military based movie it has a lot of good civvy style.

Firstly, there’s that moment where you realise that baseball caps can really look good on women. It also re-enforces what you suspected all along about white t-shirts: you absolutely do need a tonne of them. And then there’s the most important lesson of all: how to go braless while cultivating an air of indifferent elegance - thanks, Charlie (aka Kelly McGillis)!
