The gregarious backstage hair stylist's scent of the moment transports him back to Berlin
‘I am wearing Terre d'Hermes at the moment. It is one of those scents that I can wear at any time for any occasion. A client gave it to me as a gift about 6 years ago and I fell in love with it instantly. It is a real mix of fresh, earthy and modern, yet still quite classic too. It doesn’t remind me of anyone in particular, more of a time in my life. I love a bit of Hermes. I always wanted a classic belt and have a collection of neck ties and pocket squares that I’ve collected over the years, some new and some vintage. I always pop into Hermes when I’m at the airport. I would wear it all if I could! The clothes, palette, everything about it is beautiful.
I first started wearing Terre d’Hermes when we opened Percy & Reed, so it reminds me of change and excitement. It's a fragrance that makes you feel confident and comfortable - it's an easy fragrance to wear. I love the simplicity of the Hermes scent packaging. I love the strength of the Terre bottle with its accent of classic Hermes orange. If Terre was a place it would be The Tiergarten in Berlin - the beautiful freshness of the park in the middle of a concrete city.
I really love scent and literally have hundreds. Although I do tend to stick to a group that I wear regularly I also love to layer scents to make something totally unique. I always spray Diptyque Volutes after I shower as a base because it's a beautiful, fresh scent. I then apply to my neck in the morning and that's all. If I want to smell my own scent in the day, I was recommended a while ago to spray it on the base of my neck, which means it’s subtle and I am not overpowering everyone around me!’
