It's not often I find myself influenced by the style of Rihanna, but I've got a lot of time for super-brash gold hoop earrings right now, and I'm holding her responsible. Big ones, small ones, even ones as big as your head - the trashier, the better - I love them. 

Most likely, it comes down to my love of things that make you look a bit done, but with absolutely zero effort (see also red lipstick). Feel like your hair's looking a bit dull pulled back in a pony-tail? Nay bother, when you've got big gilded rings swooping past your jawline, in which it's impossible not to feel Joan Collins fabulous. 

There's also the fact that in another life, I intend to come back as one of those unbelievably glamorous, sultry Sicilians you see in Dolce & Gabbana adverts - all red lace and dripping in gold jewellery, but until I'm done with this one, at least a big gold hoop can help me pretend.
