The Louboutins that go with everything
Christian Louboutin’s 'Batignolles' pumps are almost as ubiquitous as Diane Kruger at red-carpet events. We spot the rather inconspicuous shoes – which come in 15 different finishes and colours with either a 120 or 100mm heel – at least once a week, and while a celebrity penchant for Louboutins is nothing new, there is something unusual about the frequency with which Batignolles pop up.
What’s also unique about this pair of shoes is the breadth and diversity of the wearers. This is a shoe as likely to be worn by fashion risk-takers like Rooney Mara and Kerry Washington as it is by those who generally play a safer game, like Kate Hudson.
The pump is brilliantly versatile, a simple style that complements big fashion-y gowns as well as sitting comfortably as part of a low-key look.
Named after the Batignolles neighbourhood of Paris (it’s in the 17th arrondissement and is a quietly fashionable part of town), the shoes first went on sale in March 2013 and the brand is believed to be developing new versions of the versatile style.
