Barbie's back in fashion
Barbie's never been one to wear any old thing. Since her launch in 1959, wearing New Look style dresses she's always come with a wardrobe reflecting current trends, 1992's Ultra Hair Barbie, in her Pucci-style printed body-con dress, being just one of many wonderful examples.
Today's Barbie isn't any less fashionable thanks to her new home at fashion Mecca, Selfridges, in the 4th floor Toy Shop, and a recent makeover from three of London's coolest labels, Sister by Sibling (above), Nasir Mazhar and Fred Butler.
Primarily a menswear designer, Nasir Mazhar is getting even the most feminine of dolls in on the menswear as womenswear trend, having repurposed his clothes for Barbie.
Is this the closest we'll get to Lady Gaga Barbie? Fred Butler did design headwear for a yellow-haired version of the singer for the Telephone video.
Hands up who's like to see Barbie gothed up in Gareth Pugh next...
