Your speedy guide to the biggest news stories from the weekend.

History's most famous model is being exhumed. Scientists in Florence are trying to extract DNA from a tomb that they hope contains the remains of Mona Lisa – yes, the woman who posed for Leonardo da Vinci, and mastered the art of the smize before Tyra Banks was even a twinkle in her father's eye. Sure, we all talk about how magnetic Kate Moss is, but this model has fascinated observers for 500 years. Now that's career longevity.

Nearly 80% of the UK population fails to hit government targets for exercise. A report this weekend found that the level of physical activity in Britain is 'shockingly low', with 8% of adults having not walked continuously for five minutes at any point over the last four weeks. Personally, we find that buying sportswear you really love (rather than relying on your old saggy leggings and greying trainers) is one way to motivate you off the sofa.

Brooke Magnanti (also known as Belle de Jour) has declared war on the Mail on SundayMagnanti wrote a blog about her career as an escort, which then became two books and a TV series. Yesterday her ex-boyfriend Owen Morris appeared in the paper claiming that Magnanti invented the story and was not, in fact, a prostitute. This provoked an angry response on her blog, in which she said that she plans to go to court: 'Mr Morris and the Mail on Sunday have libelled me, and I will be going to town on this. Because I know people do not trust the word of a sex worker, that is why I saved everything.'
