Aside from the week long forecast of sunshine this week that’s been a total joy to all weather obsessives (isn’t it compulsory as a British citizen?), there’s another triumphant bit of news that needs to be shared this minute.

Drumroll please: Charlotte Tilbury, legendary make-up artist and all-round beauty doyenne is going to be launching her very own line of cosmetics this autumn. Exclusive to Selfridges. As in, a whole new shiny range, created just by Charlotte. And you thought yesterday's news about Gucci was good…

Now, before we get too over excited, let’s just be reminded: this is the lady who practically invented the smokey eye - that archetypal make-up look that has made a million little black dresses happy. She’s done more Vogue covers than she owns high heels (check her Instagram snaps; we’re talking hundreds) and not only makes up the likes of Kate Moss and Laura Bailey on a regular basis for red carpets do’s and fashion week parties (so exclusive that you never hear about them), but enters said parties within their star studded entourages too.  Yes, she’s the kind of cool girl that everyone wants in their circle, and she’s the ultimate Ibiza hippie too – need we say more?

Charlotte’s range launches in late August and will, of course, amalgamate all the tips and tricks she’s picked up across the globe as one of the most celebrated backstage regulars. As the creator of some of the most feminine and wearable beauty trends to date, we’ve got a lot to thank her for.

The look she created at Blumarine’s autumn/winter 2012 show was achingly gorgeous; a bronzed, smoky eye in all its female and coquettish glory. And the impeccable look she did at Chloe’s autumn/winter 2011 show had backstage beauty editors fawning– hyper-real skin, full black lashes and a smudged, pink pout to finish. Perfection. 

So, the news of her forthcoming make-up line is just what the beauty world has been missing all these years and just like hugely talented Charlotte, there’s no doubt it will change the face of beauty as we know it. Long may this sunshine last, but Autumn can’t come quick enough.
