Loafers get pretty
If ever there was a fashion collocation we've become really used to, it's Spanish family-run footwear brand Pretty Ballerinas. So it'll take a minute to get our heads round their new line Pretty Loafers. Pretty what? Pretty Loafers. Okay. Pretty Loafers. There, we've managed it.
As with Ronseal, the name does pretty much what it says on the tin, but the concept is all new – new,for a company more used to creating ballet pumps, that is (I feel like I'm going round in circles here).
Fashion pundits have long forecast the death of the ballet flat, and it hasn't yet come true. But we can't pretend it's a footwear solution for all seasons any longer – you get a bit cold and a bit damp come autumn, after all. And Pretty Ball... er, Loafers have recognised this too. And so they have launched loafers, in case you haven't already caught the gist of this piece.
That isn't to say they're all strictly sensible – pairs come with embellished, patterns and in this excellent holographic style. And the heroine of the campaign is a sketched Marlene Dietrich-esque figure, taking pretty androgyny to newly sartorial heights. That's basically a longer way of saying 'yes please'.
So make a notes in your diaries: Pretty Ballerinas Loafers styles start arriving in the next couple of weeks, starting from £129, and will be available here.
